"No. 12 A FEW THINGS TO AVOID WHEN ENTERTAINING IN THE SUMMER: FORMAL CENTERPIECES, HOT OVENS, SHIRTS." BA, JUNE11

It has been some time since my last post. Many many excuses for this, no good reasons, but I want to be sure to update those who do follow.

Some of you have heard that I am no longer with the Chamber and this is not a rumor. Rumors are the following:
I'm pregnant-NO, and I proved this yesterday with the 2.5 Shock Tops watching The Red River Band
I'm ill-NO, although some may argue this
ADP called and offered me my job-NO

What is true:
I'm currently not working for a paycheck
I'm still pursuing my passion of community service
The Chamber was not a fit for me

The story goes a little like this. I wont bore you to death with details, as its nauseating, but there were the expectations given to me, there were the expectations of the group at large of me, then there was what the job(refuse to call it career or any other word) that I was doing 60 hours a week. I had some fun, and saw some opportunities that I am sad I could not pursue but had to move on.

So here I am, sitting in a bread shop in Titusville, and after having read cover to cover BA and finding some excellent summer dishes, I'm always moving forward.

So what now? You may recall the May post regarding the Bike Awareness Weekend. I'm diligently working on this for an October/November time frame. This has become much larger than originally conceived, not because I'm over reaching, but there seems to be a resounding cheer of excitement when i tell folks in town about it. So look for more to come on this. The Business Plan is made, but need permits and approval locally before I start dealing out details.

As for my blog, i have about 20 posts written, non edited and ready to be published. Mostly due to 60+ hour weeks for the past 2 months spinning on the gerbil mill. My good friend Alicia has promised to lend me some of her blog expertise and help design this hideous thing and I cant wait for some of you to read about our trip to Hawaii and summer food menus.

So that's the quick and dirty. I know its not pretty, or glamorous, or fun, funny, or any real revelations. But I did come across a rule to live by for the summer today, which happens to be "Rule 2: it's important to embrace laziness." Rule number 1 is to eat outside, with your hands preferably.

With that said, looking forward to spending some time with Sophia and Kori today, Sara, Andrew and Becky tomorrow, taking in as much Tour de France as humanly possible and working on my fitness!!!

  1. BA has some pretty insightful tips that can be applied to many non-food related areas of life, I must say: "it's important to embrace laziness" -- I am all for that. Let summer vacation begin--shirts or no shirts.
